CHAIRMANS COMMENTS
It has been a tough and testing year for the club and everyone throughout the pandemic.

Firstly, with the lockdowns because of Covid-19 but through the help of the Angling Trust we were back on the waters quite quickly. Secondly the loss of Beachborough, as the landowners want to make it a day ticketed water for their own business (could have told us before we done all the backbreaking work).

But on the plus side we gained so many new members either coming back to the sport or taking it on for the first time as a new hobby while the lockdown was in place and to help with mental health and personal wellbeing. Going forward a plan will be made and put forward to get the canal more fishable and more ease of access. Plus the restocking of the beautiful carp that got introduced to the West Hythe section on the canal and a plan is being put into place for a regular re-stocking policy.

With all this in mind and the loss of a water we will be lowering the membership subscriptions for the coming season, But I assure you that the club is still looking for waters to take on. So, if anyone has heard of any please get in contact with the club secretary.

There will be no AGM this year due to social gatherings, we did consider zoom but this would not be feasible due to the numbers and hopefully all will be back to normal by next year’s AGM.

Lastly, I would like to thank Ray West for all the hard work that he has put in to provide the service to renew all members subscriptions by either post or renewing memberships at his door and processing them while you wait. This was above and Beyond the call of duty in my eyes and for this the club has survived though this pandemic. Also, Paul Musson the Club Canal Bailiff selling and issuing day tickets on the canal. Without these two the club defiantly would not have run as smoothly as it did without their dedication to both the club and its members. Thank you both and thank you to all our members old and new let us hope 2021 is a lot better season.

ROYAL MILITARY CANAL.
The Royal Military Canal is a Historic Monument and is subject to legal protection under the 1979 Ancient Monuments Act and Archaeological Areas Act by the process known as scheduling. This makes it a criminal offence to damage a scheduling monument or to carry out works without the specific consent of the Secretary of State. Therefore all Members and Day Ticket anglers using the canal are reminded not to dig out swims or alter the swims on the canal without prior permission from Cinque Ports Angling Society.

NEW MEMBERS & MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS.
Our membership was up on last year mainly due to the new water at Stanford but we always have space for more new members. Why not encourage your friends and relatives to take up fishing.
Don’t forget existing members will no longer get a membership form. You must now apply for your new membership using the tear off slip on the bottom of your green 2018/2019 membership card. Please note price changes at the top of this newsletter.
Members are reminded that their membership renewals should be done either by post to the secretary or at the Renewals Day. Not in person at the secretaries home.
Come along and renew your membership while you wait at the Hythe Sports and Leisure Club ( previously British Legion, Hythe) on Saturday 13th April, 10.30am – 2.30pm.

If you apply for your new membership by post please send in a stamped addressed envelope measuring no more than 16cm by 23cm (A5) with a 1st Class stamp, The post office will charge you excess postage and a £1 handling fee if you use a larger envelope. You have been warned!

JUNIOR OPEN
Junior open has been cancelled due to social gathering and distancing….

TROPHIES
The Society possesses many wonderful Trophies. However every year a few are not awarded. If you think you are in the running for a trophy next season why not phone your catch details through to the secretary or match secretary. The trophy season runs from 1st January to the 31st December each year. Don’t forget you need two members to witness the weighing in of a trophy fish.
Details of trophies to be awarded are in the back of your C.P.A.S. Rule Book.
All record fish claims must be accompanied by a photo.
Because of the spiralling costs of engraving trophies the society will no longer be engraving trophies. As trophy winners you can however take your trophy to be engraved yourselves. A photo will taken of you receiving your trophy which you will be able to down load off our web site on the internet.

PLEASE DON’T FORGET
The years membership runs from 1st May to the 30th of April the following year.
All litter and discarded fishing tackle must be removed from the swims and taken away when you leave the fisheries. Please keep noise and music to a minimum especially when night fishing as some of the swims are very close to houses. We could lose our waters if we do not look after them.
Also all members are reminded that they must not use the banks of the canal as a public toilet.
As we now have new pathways on the canal please try not to obstruct paths with poles, bivies or other fishing equipment.
Remember your rod and line licenses are due for renewal at the post office or on the internet on 1st of April 2019.

SEE IT ON THE WEB & FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM
Have you been on the Society Web Site or Face book lately. www.cinqueportsanglingsociety.org.
Member Roger Betts is still running our great web site. Thank you Roger.
If you have any photos to add please send them to Roger at rogbetts@gmail.com so all your friends and relatives worldwide can see them. So get snapping.
There is also a chat room on the site now so you can discuss your catches. But please watch your
language as juniors read it too.

MATCH SECRETARYS REPORT
Well this year has sure been one to forget for many reasons! The pandemic has robbed us of our fishing and for some very much more, the future is looking brighter and this year should see things getting back to near normal.

The loss of our water Beachborough was a blow but as it was nothing we had done wrong, just progress (in the eye of the owner). But we still have the lovely picturesque lake at Stanford that is a joy to sit down and watch the wildlife and now and then catch a super looking carp!

The canal will fish all the better this season due to the flush through it has had and the lack of angling pressure .The carp the club put in last year will be packing on the weight and will show this season for sure. I hope to see you all on the bank in this new season and with luck 2020 will become just a bad dream!
