Match secretaries yearly report

First of all I would to thank everybody who attended the matches throughout the year. A total of 45 seniors and 8 juniors fished. The Cinque Ports Trophy was won by myself for the 3rd year with a total of 144 points. The runner-up was chairman Laurie Webster with 112 points. Laurie was made to fight for the runner up spot by Stevie Harding, who if there was a trophy for the most improved angler, would have walked it. He eventually finished 3rd on 101 points.

However, we still managed to see 2 new names on the trophies this year, to go with the usual names as Rob Hyson, who won the Bob Nicholson Shield (all night match) and the Prince of Wales Cup (highest weight in the home match). Also, Ed Butt, yes that is his name, who won the Reg Clayton Memorial Cup for the heaviest bag of Roach in the the Wagstaff Shield and Geoff Wither who won the Perch Trophy and the C.W.Allen Cup (best specimen) both for a Perch of 2lb 4oz caught from the small pond at Beachborough.

There have also been some good performances in the away matches with Kevin Durman taking 5 kilos 369gm (11lb 12oz in old money) of Perch from the River Rother and 62lb 7oz of Bream from Moat Park. I also netted 75lb 11oz of Bream from Heron Park at Lydd.

Needless to say C.P.A.S. beat both Maidstone Victory and Lydd Angling Club in our inter-club Matches

The Junior Cinque Ports Trophy was won by Jamie Musson also for the third year running with 155 points. Runner up was Oliver Manley for the second year running. It was an especially good year for Jamie as he also won the Hythe Festival Junior Open. No mean feat for a 10 year competing against a record 48 juniors, many of whom were 16, in their last year as juniors.

I would like to finish by saying a special thanks to Billy Usher for all his help as my assistant last season.
