I wouldn't know I haven't had any over 30 out of there!! Well not yet !! From looking at picture gallery I would say at least 3 or 4! But that would be a guess! Some off the regulars who have had them out must know but you know what a lot of anglers are like they are very secretive so might not want to say, as I know a lot of hard work go,s into catching a big canal carp.
Years back maybe the late 90,s or early 00,s the biggest canal residents used to be called "the pig" and "lucky" I beleive, does anyone know if there still in there ?
A little chat page
440 entries.
How many different 30lb fish have been caught on the west hythe to seabrook stretch ? Also a baliff was saying a 42lb fish had been caught recently ??
It was a ghostly
Thanks for all your replies! Yes it is hard to put a number on it canalman I'm not really sure on numbers myself to be honest! IT is just interesting to see what other people s thoughts are! Ive just started fishing back on here recently really, used to fish it a lot as a kid like over 15 years ago so wonder if many of the carp are still the ones that used to be in there back then. Not sure when the canal was last stocked with carp??
Was that 10lber a common by any chance Matt ??
The carp are there Fred you just need to find them, and usually when you see one there will be others not far away! It can get frustrating trying to locate them though, obviously your best bet is prebaiting if you have the time!

Smallest I've had is 10lb 3oz
There's hardly any carp in the canal
How many double figure carp in the canal? I've asked this of several people - with widely differing answers. They move around a lot - and I would guess that there are between 80 and 120 max. Any other opinions?
I've often wondered that. I've never come across, or heard of anyone catching a small carp. I think the ones in there are old stock getting bigger and bigger. They don't seem to be breading. Plenty of young other species.
Just out of curiosity Does anybody have a rough idea of the number of carp in the canal ? And also the smallest ? I had one out at 13lb the other week and that is the smallest I've had out recently, and I never see small carp bit of a weird question but I'm just curious !!
Hi Jack. No
Hi,guys . Just checking, is there chub,Dace, Barbel and Crucian Carp in the canal
Just come back from a walk in that area. There is probably room for about 7 or 8 cars to park - either beside the road on the south side of the bridge or beyond the bridge on the north side
Hi Les thank you for the info. but not a member yet. Would be interested in the weigh in though if you get time?
Also where will everyone park??
Best Wishes David
