Hi John. I assume you mean between the Dam and Seabrook (where it is currently banned). This was discussed in depth at the AGM and the consensus of those present was that the ban was to continue. The problem we have, of course, is that only the members are complying with the ban - whilst day ticket anglers are regularly flouting it.
john wrote on 16th October 2015 at 1:23 pm:
how do other members feel about not being able to spin on the canal below the dam or should the rules be amended to allow spinning during the winter months depending on water levels

In the past I have just parked along giggers green road or by one of the gates there is enough room to park a car.
Bert wrote on 6th October 2015 at 4:24 pm:
Hi, just curious, with regards to the Giggers Green section of canal, where is parking located? Is it bankside, or wherever is available on Giggers Green Road?
Any help would be great, thanks!

To rog.

Me and my brother had a brace of perch 3lb and 3lb 1oz . A couple of years ago
rog wrote on 16th August 2015 at 11:48 am:
Hi Derek, I'm not sure what the biggest one is, but I had a 2lb 13oz one 2 years ago on the canal. there's a pic of it in the gallery.
There must be bigger ones. let us know if you get one.
Derik wrote on 14th August 2015 at 9:21 pm:
Hi guys, just wondering what's the biggest perch that has come out of the canal?
Mark wrote on 14th August 2015 at 2:46 pm:
I think some from the gallery are from the other side of the dam? And a few are of the same fish , maybe Matt can shed some light on it as he don't seem to keep his captures to himself ?
Carper wrote on 14th August 2015 at 12:07 pm:
I wouldn't know I haven't had any over 30 out of there!! Well not yet !! From looking at picture gallery I would say at least 3 or 4! But that would be a guess! Some off the regulars who have had them out must know but you know what a lot of anglers are like they are very secretive so might not want to say, as I know a lot of hard work go,s into catching a big canal carp.
Years back maybe the late 90,s or early 00,s the biggest canal residents used to be called "the pig" and "lucky" I beleive, does anyone know if there still in there ?
Mark wrote on 14th August 2015 at 11:11 am:
How many different 30lb fish have been caught on the west hythe to seabrook stretch ? Also a baliff was saying a 42lb fish had been caught recently ??
Matt wrote on 13th August 2015 at 10:50 pm:
It was a ghostly
Carper wrote on 13th August 2015 at 9:30 pm:
Thanks for all your replies! Yes it is hard to put a number on it canalman I'm not really sure on numbers myself to be honest! IT is just interesting to see what other people s thoughts are! Ive just started fishing back on here recently really, used to fish it a lot as a kid like over 15 years ago so wonder if many of the carp are still the ones that used to be in there back then. Not sure when the canal was last stocked with carp??
Was that 10lber a common by any chance Matt ??
The carp are there Fred you just need to find them, and usually when you see one there will be others not far away! It can get frustrating trying to locate them though, obviously your best bet is prebaiting if you have the time!
Matt wrote on 13th August 2015 at 4:56 pm:
Smallest I've had is 10lb 3oz
Fred wrote on 13th August 2015 at 4:54 pm:
There's hardly any carp in the canal
Canalman wrote on 13th August 2015 at 4:53 pm:
How many double figure carp in the canal? I've asked this of several people - with widely differing answers. They move around a lot - and I would guess that there are between 80 and 120 max. Any other opinions?
